A full and satisfying life.
Susanne’s natural competitive spirit led her to join the Navy Reserve. She knew that the only way to get ahead in her civilian career was to work with some of the world’s most advanced technology in a military career.
After earning her doctorate in geophysics, Susanne began her Navy career in the Reserve. Immediately, she saw the similarities and the benefits.
“As a scientist, I’m doing the same thing that I do as an Intelligence Officer. I take incomplete data, I sort it out, try and fill in the gaps, look for a pattern, create a model, and predict the future,” says Susanne. For Susanne, this was an opportunity to do twice the good for her country, while making twice the advances for herself.
When she’s not identifying and analyzing highly classified intelligence, Susanne plays hockey. Lots of hockey. Susanne plays on a men’s league on Sundays and a women’s travel team.
With so much on her plate, Susanne still manages to bond with her boyfriend and future stepchildren. Saturday mornings are especially reserved for her future stepdaughter and her soccer team, which Susanne refs.
“I’ve never realized just how rewarding I find this career. There have been days where I’ve just looked around and gone, ‘Wow, I really can’t believe I do this job. This is so cool.’ I have very meaningful work, and I still get to train people to go out the door and hunt down and capture terrorists and it’s fantastic.”
