Many hats. One man who wears them all.
Joseph’s immense passion for traveling led him to join the Navy. But after 10 years of seeing the world and intercepting, analyzing and decoding satellite communications for his country, it was time for Joseph to take on an adventure of his own and raise a family.
Unwilling to end his ties with the military, especially the camaraderie and the top-secret missions, Joseph instinctively joined the Navy Reserve. “The Reserve has allowed me a lot of time to spend with my family. Different, significant events that were in their life, I was able to be there. I think a lot of times we take those things for granted. I think that I’m blessed that I’m able to do that,” says Joseph.
The various skills Joseph maintains in the Navy Reserve have made a significant impact on his civilian career. “In the Navy, I’ve pretty much worn all the hats - technician, supervisor, manager. I definitely put each of those experiences to use, and each one makes me a more valuable employee,” says Joseph.
Juggling two worlds, Joseph still finds the time to teach his son a lesson or two on the basketball court. But lately, it’s been the other way around.
“I’m proud to serve my country. I’m proud to be in the Navy Reserve. You know, I’ve got the ball and I’ve got to take that shot, and that’s what the Navy’s prepared me for. And I’m ready to take that shot.”
