New Orleans Returns From A-SPS 2010
USS New Orleans, along with Amphibious Squadron 5, and other embarked units, will return to their homeport San Diego Sept. 2, after completing a three-month independent deployment in support of Amphibious-Southern Partnership Station (A-SPS) 2010.

USS Abraham Lincoln Strike Group to Deploy
Three ships of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 9 -- USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), USS Momsen (DDG 92), and USS Shoup (DDG 86) -- will get underway Sept. 7 from Naval Station Everett for a scheduled routine deployment to the 7th and 5th Fleet Areas of Responsibility.

“I thought it was strictly one weekend a month, two weeks a year. I never realized there were so many options and opportunities available.” This was Christopher’s impression of the Navy Reserve upon joining.
A year before joining, Christopher transitioned from the Navy, where he served as a Cryptologic Technician (CT). According to Christopher, his main interest in joining the Reserve was to maintain his security clearance. “I was looking into high-tech civilian jobs, and I felt that having my security clearance would be a big leg up.”
