New Orleans Returns From A-SPS 2010
USS New Orleans, along with Amphibious Squadron 5, and other embarked units, will return to their homeport San Diego Sept. 2, after completing a three-month independent deployment in support of Amphibious-Southern Partnership Station (A-SPS) 2010.

USS Abraham Lincoln Strike Group to Deploy
Three ships of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 9 -- USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), USS Momsen (DDG 92), and USS Shoup (DDG 86) -- will get underway Sept. 7 from Naval Station Everett for a scheduled routine deployment to the 7th and 5th Fleet Areas of Responsibility.

Carlos
There’s an old adage that says “Join the Navy and see the world.” Carlos may have coined a new adage: “Join the Navy Reserve and see the ship.” Serving on Active Duty Navy for four years, Carlos tells how his duties took him around the world twice, but since he didn’t have many opportunities to leave his duty section while on his ship, it didn’t seem that he traveled very far. “As a Machinist Mate, I spent most of my time down below with the machinery,” he says.
