New Orleans Returns From A-SPS 2010
USS New Orleans, along with Amphibious Squadron 5, and other embarked units, will return to their homeport San Diego Sept. 2, after completing a three-month independent deployment in support of Amphibious-Southern Partnership Station (A-SPS) 2010.

USS Abraham Lincoln Strike Group to Deploy
Three ships of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 9 -- USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), USS Momsen (DDG 92), and USS Shoup (DDG 86) -- will get underway Sept. 7 from Naval Station Everett for a scheduled routine deployment to the 7th and 5th Fleet Areas of Responsibility.

“There’s a lot of prestige that goes with being a Navy Nurse,” says Karen. “To be honest, though, I really wasn’t aware of this before joining. But I have since found it to be so true.”
Karen explains that her main reason for joining the Navy Reserve was to serve her country. “When I’m older and retired and looking back on my life, I want to say I did something meaningful. I want to say I did my part for my country.”
